The Awards, founded in 2001, offer a <strong>\u20ac5,000 <\/strong>top prize, the largest of its kind in the country, designed to further the winner\u2019s music education and development.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-351 alignleft\" draggable=\"true\" src=\"https:\/\/www.frankmaherclassicalmusicawards.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Maher_Music_Logo_apply-rule-1-262x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"300\" data-bukket-ext-bukket-draggable=\"true\" \/><\/em><\/strong>At a photocall in the Radisson Blu St. Helen\u2019s in Dublin, Marty was joined by the 2024 winner, <strong>Ai Lin Sun<\/strong> from Dublin and four secondary school music students &#8211; Alva Cummins and Emma Muldoon from St. Raphaela\u2019s Secondary School and Dylan Henry and Killian O\u2019Keeffe from Templeogue College, both in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marty Whelan said:<\/strong> \u201c<em>Ireland\u2019s young musicians continue to inspire us with their dedication and passion. The Frank Maher Awards not only celebrates their achievements but also gives them a unique opportunity to take the next step in their musical journey.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s winner Ai Lin Sun is now studying for a Bachelor in Music (piano) at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) alongside her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Founded by Emmet O\u2019Rafferty, chair of the Top Security Group, the Awards honour the legacy of his former teacher, Fr. Frank Maher, a pioneer in nurturing musical talent in Irish secondary schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>O\u2019Rafferty commented<\/strong>: &#8221; <em>Marty Whelan has been a wonderful supporter of the Frank Maher Awards for its development of young classical music talent. In helping to develop Ireland\u2019s classical music stars of the future, he joins other established names who have also lent their support over the years, like conductor Eimear Noone, pianist Veronica McSwiney and violinists R\u00f3isin N\u00ed Dh\u00faill<\/em> <em>and Mia Cooper.
